Key Features and Controls:

Sidechain Section:

• Filter HP/LP: Activate/deactivate the high-pass and low-pass sidechain filters.
• Filter Graph: Adjust cutoff frequency (horizontal drag) and resonance (vertical drag) for each filter. These settings determine the compressor’s frequency sensitivity.
• Sidechain: Enables external sidechain input. This allows the compressor to react to the dynamics of a separate signal (e.g., using a kick drum to control a synth pad’s dynamics).
• Gain: Controls the sidechain signal level.
• Listen: Monitors the sidechain signal for easy filter configuration and signal verification.

Compressor Section:

• Thresh.: Sets the threshold. The compressor engages when the sidechain signal exceeds this level.
• Ratio: Controls the amount of gain reduction. A 3:1 ratio, for example, reduces the output by 1dB for every 3dB increase in the sidechain signal.
• Attack: Determines how quickly the compressor engages after the threshold is crossed.
• Release: Sets how long it takes for the compressor to return to its initial state after the signal falls below the threshold.
• Knee: Adjusts the compression curve around the threshold. A hard knee applies the full ratio immediately, while a soft knee gradually increases the ratio.
• Compression Graph: Displays the compression curve. Dragging horizontally adjusts both threshold and ratio, while vertical dragging adjusts them independently.
• Source Meter: Monitors the sidechain signal level.
• GR Meter: Shows the amount of gain reduction.
• Look Ahead: Introduces a delay to the processed signal, allowing the compressor to anticipate transients for smoother dynamics processing.
